After 30 years in the beauty business and today as a certified health coach, I know what does and doesn’t work. And remember: Makeup isn’t magic. Beauty comes from the inside out, so no matter how good your moisturizer and foundation are the best base for looking good is eating healthy food, exercising, and taking care of yourself. Here are my tips for looking and feeling your best.
Tip 001: Your Hands Are Your Best Tool
There’s no doubt brushes are the gold standard for applying makeup, but if you’re in a pinch, your hands can be an equally useful tool— the warmth of your fingers makes blending easier and smooth.
I personally like to apply foundation with my fingers. It gives me more control of the product and I find that the warmth of my hand makes the product easier to apply. For gel or cream blush, apply with your fingers to the apples of the cheeks and up toward the hairline. Apply only a small amount at first and blend thoroughly; you can always add more.
If you finish and the makeup still doesn't look "done", like it's blended correctly, or like it belongs there, add just a tiny bit of moisturizer or oil and tap into the skin gently with your hands to help blend it and give it a polished look.
Blush makes everyone look pretty. It warms up your complexion and brightens your face. But it's easy to be overwhelmed by all of the shades of blush at beauty counters. To find the one that's best for your skin, choose one that matches the color your cheeks turn when you pinch them.
As a guide, very pale skin looks amazing with a pastel pink shade with cool tones. For skin that is slightly warmer but still pale, look for a pink that is a bit dustier. For skin that tans easily and rarely burns, go with a tawnier pink that has some brown tones in it. Women with tan, warm skin tones should choose an almost plum shade that looks like a rich pink when applied. For deeper skin tones, redder shades that have bluish tones like cranberry leave a beautiful finish.
The only way you know if a foundation or tinted moisturizer is the right color for your skin is to test it on the side of your face (on your cheek). Does it disappear when applied to the side? If you want it to look natural, it has to. Always swatch colors where you’ll be applying them — you won’t know if the shade is right if you’re only looking at it on the back of your hand. If you have redness, look for shades with a yellow undertone to help get rid of it.
I like to spot apply and only use it on the areas I really need it. You can start by applying a sheer formula in the right texture for your skin and use it to even out any redness (often around the nose and near any blemishes). Foundation sticks and pencils are also great for spots that need denser, fuller coverage. Don’t try to match your foundation to your neck — you can use a bronzer as a skin tint if you need to correct your neck or chest. This rule works so that it allows you to use it strategically on red spots without having to apply the shade all over.
Best known for its immune-boosting properties, vitamin C is also a game changer when it comes to your skin. This powerful antioxidant stimulates collagen production, brightens skin tone, and protects against UV damage. You can find a range of serums to give you a vitamin C boost, but I really love making it a part of my daily routine as a supplement.
My EVOLUTION_18 Beauty Glow is a beauty pill meets multivitamin. Made with a combination of collagen, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, it works to promote skin repair and fight the signs of aging.
I often get asked for my number one wellness tip and people are always so surprised with my answer: drink more water. It’s simple, but it’s one of the best things you can do for your body, mind, skin, hair, mood — the list goes on. When I first made the connection between what I was putting in my body and how I was feeling, water was one of the first things I turned to. When I was drinking a ton of water, I felt great. And when I wasn’t, it was obvious.
Water helps keep joints lubricated, protects organs, regulates temperature, stabilizes your heartbeat, aids in digestion, and flushes bacteria from your system. My EVOLUTION_18 Beauty Debloat Tea is perfect for when you need to flush out your system, get rid of bloat and give your metabolism a little boost. Just mix with water and drink up. It’s part of my daily routine.
Nails feeling brittle? Hair looking blah instead of bouncy? It might be time to give your daily beauty routine a collagen boost. Collagen is a protein that makes up the structure of our connective tissues — our skin, hair, and nails. It’s made up of amino acids and is one of the most abundant proteins in our body, making up 70% of the protein in our skin. Think of it as the glue that holds your body together. Without collagen, our skin starts to sag, our hair loses that bouncy quality, and our nails can become weak and brittle.
Thanks to supplements, adding collagen to your routine has never been easier. I put together this collection of daily essentials that work together to support hair, skin, and nails from the inside out thanks to a beautifying mix of collagen peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and biotin.

When I set out to create EVOLUTION_18, it was so important to me that the products were easy to add to your daily routine. We are all busy enough as it is and I didn’t want anything fussy or complicated. My daily routine always includes the below products (even when I’m traveling) and they’ve made such a difference in how I feel throughout the day. If you’re looking for somewhere to start with my supplements, these are my recommendations:
"On my second bag and 3 people have already told me that my face looked so ‘fresh.’ I have noticed that my face has more elasticity and is more plump" - Patricia
"Best debloat product on the market
A friend of mine recommended this and I’m so glad I listened. This product definitely helps with bloat and water retention. I like to take it right around my period or the day after a big meal. Doesn’t make you gassy like some of the other debloat products." -Tricia
'I have tried plenty of shakes before and they always had a weird after taster or were chalky something was just off. This one is amazing! I've had it hot and cold and I love it either way it's a sweet treat to curb going to the candy drawer at the office, and curbing my appetite before dinner! Definitely worth trying!" - Amanda
